The newly formed Excel Learning Trust Choir sang to shoppers and visitors in St Helen’s Square in York on Saturday 30 November.
Pupils from the Trust schools joined together to spread some festive cheer as they sang a selection of Christmas songs.
Clare Hardy, music teacher at Knavesmire Primary School and Associate Director of Personal Development for the Trust, said “We have so much talent throughout our family of schools, so it has been wonderful to see some of our singers join together to do what they love, whilst sharing the Christmas spirit in our local community. Pupils from across the Trust got together to rehearse in the lead up to the concert so have made friends with other young people they may not have met otherwise.”
The choir will continue to sing and rehearse together, with their next performance scheduled for March 2025 at the York Choral Festival at Joseph Rowntree Theatre.
Excel Learning Trust is a family of seven schools in York: Millthorpe and York High Schools, Inspire Academy, Carr Junior School and Knavesmire, Scarcroft and Woodthorpe Primary Schools.
