Assistant Principal
York High School

York High School has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Principal to join our team.

We are a mixed 11–16 school, serving a genuinely comprehensive intake, and our values of resilience, aspiration and success are woven through everything we do. We have an absolute commitment to maximising the potential of all our students and the school has seen rapid and sustained change recently, with the school earning a ‘good’ judgement from Ofsted in September 2022.

As Assistant Principal, you will be responsible for leading on specific areas and initiatives in order to secure school-wide improvements, and the successful candidate’s remit will involve working in close collaboration with the Vice Principal (Deep Support) and the Senior Pastoral Leader to improve York High School’s inclusion offer.

You will be a committed and innovative practitioner, with the ability to play a key role in the improvement journey the school is on. You will want the very best for all students, no matter their background. You will be fully supported by a committed staff body and senior leadership team within school, and all our staff have a genuine commitment to excellent pastoral care and to maximising the potential of all of our students; this must be reflected in the successful candidate’s values.

As a member of Excel Learning Trust, we offer a range of staff benefits, including access to a staff discount scheme, enrolment in the excellent Teachers’ Pension Scheme, 24/7 access to an employee assistance programme and a range of family friendly policies, as well as regular, high quality professional development. Further details regarding our benefits and information about our Trust can be found here.

Visits to the school and informal discussions regarding the role are welcomed and very much encouraged. In order to arrange a visit or discussion, please contact Dawn Becton, PA to Principal and Office Manager, on d.becton@yorkhigh.elt.org.uk.
