The audit is designed to systematically evaluate an organisation’s safeguarding policies, practices, and procedures for protecting at-risk children. Its main objectives include:
- Compliance Assessment: Checking adherence to legal and regulatory safeguarding requirements.
- Policy Review: Analysing existing safeguarding policies for relevance, comprehensiveness, and communication to staff and stakeholders.
- Risk Identification: Spotting potential risks and vulnerabilities that may jeopardize the safety of individuals.
- Staff Training and Awareness: Evaluating the effectiveness of staff training on safeguarding issues and their familiarity with relevant policies.
- Incident Management: Reviewing the processes for reporting, managing, and documenting safeguarding incidents to ensure proper action.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Assessing the participation of stakeholders, such as service users, families, and community partners, in safeguarding efforts.
- Recommendations for Improvement: Providing actionable recommendations to enhance safeguarding measures, address identified gaps, and promote a culture of safety and protection.
