The SEND audit focuses on several key areas to ensure effective support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND):
- Compliance with Legislation: Evaluates adherence to relevant laws, such as the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice.
- Identification and Assessment: Assesses the effectiveness of processes and tools used for the timely identification of students with SEND.
- Provision and Support: Reviews the quality and appropriateness of support services and interventions tailored to individual student needs.
- Inclusive Practices: Examines the integration of SEND students in mainstream classrooms and the creation of a supportive environment.
- Staff Training and Development: Assesses training opportunities for staff to effectively support SEND students.
- Parental and Student Engagement: Evaluates the involvement of parents and students in decision-making regarding support and communication effectiveness.
- Outcomes and Progress: Analyses academic and social outcomes for SEND students to identify the impact of current practices and areas for improvement.
The overall aim of the SEND audit is to identify strengths and areas for development, fostering continuous improvement to ensure all students receive necessary support for success.

Sue Wight is a Director of SEN across a Trust with a NASENCO qualification and L1-L3 SEN Law trained. She has also previously been a SENCO and SEN Outreach Service Lead and is an Inclusion Quality Mark assessor.
