Our Vulnerable Pupil Pledge

At Excel Learning Trust, our Vulnerable Pupils Pledge sets out our long‑term commitment to ensuring that every child, regardless of their circumstances, receives high‑quality education, support and opportunity.

We recognise that vulnerability can look different for every child and can change over time. Therefore, our approach is proactive rather than reactive, combining early identification with high expectations, personalised support and a genuine understanding of each child as an individual. From the moment a pupil joins one of our schools, we work to ensure they feel safe, valued and ready to succeed.

As a Trust, we are committed to removing barriers to learning wherever they exist. This means embedding inclusive practice into everyday teaching, supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing alongside strong academic achievement, and ensuring all pupils can take part fully in the wider life of school. We also work closely with families, recognising that collaborative partnerships between home and school are essential to achieving the best outcomes.

The Vulnerable Pupils Pledge reflects our belief that excellence should be experienced every day by every child. It brings together our values of ambition, compassion and accountability, ensuring no pupil is overlooked and that those who need the most support are helped to thrive, achieve and belong.
